Carrie Kennedy, Violinist Young Artist Winner of 2001

Carrie Kennedy, from Houston Texas, is the
winner of the 2001 National Federation of Music Clubs Young Artist Award for
Strings. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Music Degree in Violin
Performance at the University of Southern California. Having previously studied
with Henry Rubin, she is now a student of Robert Lipsett.
Ms.
Kennedy has won numerous awards including first place in the American String
Teachers Association, National Solo Competition, Culver City-Marina del Rey-Westchester
Symphony Competition, Lennos/Richardson Symphony Competition, Clear Lake
Symphony Competition, Houston Music Teachers Association Competition, and the
state and division levels of the Music Teachers Association Competition. She has
been a winner in the California International Young Artists Competition in the
University of Southern California Concerto Competition. Other awards include
second place in the pre-college division of the Kingsville International
Competition and two-time silver medal winner of the Houston Symphony
Competition. She has also been a finalist in the Irving M. Klein Competition,
the Tunbridge Wells International Competition in England, and the Concert
Artists Guild Competition.
Ms.
Kennedy has had the opportunity to solo with many orchestras including the San
Antonio Symphony, Richardson Symphony, University of Southern California
Symphony, Clear Lake Symphony, Westchester Symphony, and the Greater Houston
Youth Orchestra.
Ms. Kennedy has attended the Santander Master Courses in spain where she studied and performed in concert with Zakhar Bron. She has also attended the Indiana String Academy, Weathersfield Music Festival, Encore School for Strings and the Angel Fire Chamber Music Festival. During the summer of 2001, Carrie attended the London Master Classes to study with Gyorgy Pauk, and she will be performing concerts in France at the French-American Chamber Music Festival as the first violinist of the Kalos String Quartet.
