Daniel Weeks, winner of the 1999 National Federation of Music Clubs Artist Award for Man's Voice, is on the faculty of the University of Louisville, and is nearing the completion of his DMA in voice performance at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. He also holds degrees from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, and the Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida.
In 1999 Mr. Weeks was a National Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and was a featured performer on the nationally broadcast concert from the stage of the Met. He competed in the MONC auditions, winning first place in the Tristate Region in 1999, and third in the region in 1998. He won the Kentucky district of the MONC auditions in 1996, 1997, and 1998. Other awards include: Second Place in the D'Angelo Vocal Competition in Erie, Pennsylvania; Second Place in the 1999 Marguerite McCammon Vocal Competition, sponsored by the Opera Guild of Fort Worth, Texas; selected as a winner in the 1998 Vocal Arts Resource Network Vocal Competition of the state of Ohio; First Place in the 1998 Klose-Seybold Vocal Competition at the University of Cincinnati.
Mr. Weeks' opera credits include Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Monteverdi's L'incoronazione de Poppea, Handel's Acis und Galatea, Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Bright Sheng's The Song of Majnun.
In addition to maintaining a busy concert schedule, giving recitals and master classes, Mr. Weeks has performed with the Cincinnati Symphony, the Bowling Green Orchestra, and the Hilton Head Symphony, appeared as soloist with the Northern Kentucky Symphony in the Tristate premier of the once lost Messe Solennelle of Hector Berlioz, and in the 1999 Memorial Concert for Judith Raskin in New York City.
In February, 2000, Mr. Weeks was presented in a New York recital by the Marilyn Horne Foundation.
